Overview
Spread across dozens of rock shelters in central Tanzania, the Kondoa paintings depict humans, animals and abstract symbols created by successive hunter-gatherer and later pastoralist communities over an extraordinarily long period. Their density and time-depth earned UNESCO World Heritage status, distinguishing them from other East African rock art sites.
