This itinerary takes a different, more historically focused angle than our general Stone Town cultural tour: it centers on the sobering history of Zanzibar as one of the largest slave trading ports in East Africa, visiting the former slave market, underground holding chambers, and the Anglican cathedral built on the site as a memorial.

Most travelers fly into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) in Zanzibar, or connect via Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam, with a short domestic flight or ferry across.
